Altelaw & Sempra Contributed to the Annual UWEA Review “Wind Energy Sector of Ukraine 2025”
The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) has published its annual review, “Wind Energy Sector of Ukraine 2025″— a comprehensive analytical document that summarizes the industry’s results and captures key changes in the energy sector amidst the full-scale war. An important contribution to the document was also made by UWEA member companies, including Altelaw & Sempra, through their practical experience, project development cases, and the transformation of business models in the sector.
The review combined the state’s vision, business practices, and scientific expertise. Among the key findings:
- the share of RES (Renewable Energy Sources) in the generation mix in 2025 remained at 10.7%, while electricity exports grew almost sixfold—to 2.1 million MWh, and imports decreased by 24%;
- energy storage systems (ESS) grew rapidly. The total capacity of ESS built in 2025 exceeded 500 MW;
- wind energy returned to an active development phase. Over the year, 324.4 MW of new WPPs (Wind Power Plants) were built, which is more than during the entire previous period of the full-scale war;
- at the same time, grid connection issues, along with military uncertainty, access to financing, and regulatory volatility, remain the key constraining factors for WPPs and ESS.
For Altelaw & Sempra, participating in the preparation of such a document is an opportunity to make the market discussion more precise: with factual data, practical insights, and legal emphasis that influence investment decisions and the sector’s development.
