Altelaw&Sempra joins the UN Global Compact in Ukraine
In April 2026, Altelaw&Sempra became a participant in the UN Global Compact—the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. The firm has committed to adhering to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of environmental protection, human rights, labour relations, and anti-corruption.
Altelaw&Sempra is a Ukrainian law firm possessing top-tier expertise in energy, construction, and Government Relations. The firm has operated in the market for over 14 years, and in September 2025, it merged with new partners, expanding its practices and strengthening the team. Today, the firm provides businesses with comprehensive solutions across several key domains: the legal engineering of energy projects, legal support for construction and property development, transaction structuring and capital raising, as well as the legal provision of large-scale initiatives for Ukraine’s reconstruction.
Throughout its operations, Altelaw&Sempra has consistently implemented the principles of responsible business. It achieves this not solely through client engagements, but via direct participation in shaping the nation’s legal landscape.
Altelaw&Sempra provides systemic expert support in forging the regulatory framework for the reform of the energy sector, specifically concerning the development of renewable energy, energy security, and integration into the European market. The firm has participated in drafting and advancing pivotal legislation that defines the modern architecture of the energy market: from supporting ‘green’ generation and developing infrastructure for electric vehicles to refining operational regulations within the energy and heat supply sectors. The team has also engaged in working groups under relevant ministries and the NEURC, drafted analytical materials, and coordinated the preparation of market rules, as well as transmission and distribution codes.
A distinct dimension of this endeavour is the pro bono work undertaken by the firm’s specialists. This includes participation in drafting the Strategy for the Development of Distributed Generation until 2035 and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan until 2030, alongside coordination with the UN Global Compact Energy Initiative to harmonise Ukrainian regulations with European principles of sustainable development.
The Altelaw&Sempra team conducts legal analysis and refines normative legal acts within the spheres of construction and infrastructure restoration. It develops recommendations for legislative initiatives and sustains a dialogue with state authorities, parliamentary committees, and international partners. The firm is dedicated to the systemic modernisation of the regulatory environment and the establishment of predictable rules for investors, serving as the foundation for Ukraine’s sustainable recovery.
The participation of the firm’s partners in drafting the Anti-Corruption Strategy of Ukraine until 2030—specifically the sections pertaining to the energy sector and the construction industry—serves as further corroboration that Altelaw & Sempra actively shapes the rules of the game, rather than merely operating within them.
“For us, joining the UN Global Compact is a continuation of what we already do every day: building our practice upon the principles of transparency, integrity, and responsibility. Whether in energy, construction, or the reconstruction of the country—in each of these domains, we strive not simply to support processes, but to cultivate an environment wherein business and the state operate according to shared standards. We are convinced that this is precisely what a sustainable future for Ukraine looks like,” noted Olga Savchenko, Senior Partner at Altelaw&Sempra.
The primary avenues of sustainable development championed by Altelaw&Sempra encompass the rule of law and the transparency of corporate governance, the advancement of energy independence and sustainable infrastructure, support for Ukraine’s reconstruction in accordance with international standards, and the systemic combating of corruption across critical sectors of the economy.
