Challenges of financing communities in the field of decentralized energy: Altelaw’s participation in the event

This week, we attended an event organized by the Association of Small Cities of Ukraine, dedicated to the challenges of attracting funding for communities in decentralized energy.

We discussed, in an informal but very substantive manner, how communities can increase their chances of obtaining funding for distributed generation projects.

They discussed how to enhance the economic model of such projects, what should be taken into consideration in the preparation of documentation, and what “homework” communities should do to make projects understandable and acceptable to banks and donors.

The meeting was off-the-record, but it is significant: several directions were outlined for further progress – from a legal, financial, and institutional perspective.

The ALTELAW team continues to be involved in processes that help communities become energy-independent – competently, legally, and with a focus on results.
