Olga Savchenko was elected to the UBA Committee on Energy, Oil, and Gas.
We are pleased to congratulate Olga Savchenko, Senior Partner at ALTELAW, on her election to the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) Committee on Energy, Oil, and Gas. The UBA is a nationwide public organization that unites more than 7 thousand employees into a strong and influential professional community.
Established in 2002, the UBA aims to develop the legal profession, improve legislation, implement ethical standards, and protect the professional rights of its members and human rights in general. During 2024–2035, Olga Savchenko will work as a member of the Committee on Energy, Oil, and Gas.
What are the primary tasks of the Energy, Oil, and Gas Committee?
The main areas of the Committee’s work include events and analysis targeted at resolving legal issues in the energy sector. It is equally vital to organize annual forums and conferences on energy law, where key legal aspects of the industry are brought up.
Despite the absence of government representatives in the committee, the association actively cooperates with lawyers representing state interests. In particular, attention is focused on such legal aspects of the energy sector as state aid, market boundaries, and other issues related to investments and the investigation of abuses in the electricity market.
To maintain the quality, legality, and validity of regulation in the energy sector, we actively interact with the Ministry of Energy, MPs, and the NEURC. What is more important is that, together with the members of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, the Committee is working on changes in legislation aimed at developing the “green energy” market.
Undoubtedly, the UBA is one of the most authoritative associations in the field of law, and we intend to be useful to the renewable energy industry as part of our work in the Committee.
